Brad Pitt had plastic surgery?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have always been the apple of the eye when it comes to celebrity couples. With Jolie's addiction to child adoption and Brad's willingness to play the role of the sexiest male babysitter in the world, it is undeniable that the people's eyes are always on them whatever it is that they are doing.
And right now, it seems that the spotlight is on Brad who is looking a little odd these days, according to some people. In Touch Weekly notes that Brad looks like he had plastic surgery, and the magazine promises that a cosmetic surgeon will weigh in on why Brad suddenly looks so different.
Cate Blanchett is against teen plastic surgery
Plastic surgery has reached new heights. It has reached a level of popularity where it is not taboo anymore to talk about getting a liposuction or a facelift surgery because everybody is doing it already. It has somehow achieved its goal, to make cosmetic plastic surgery available to people from all walks of life. But then again, there are drawbacks to this development. And Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett isn't scared to point that one aspect out.
It looks like teens are also curious about going under the knife and Blanchett doesn't like the idea at all. According to her, parents should not allow their young children to get plastic surgery. This, despite the pressure these children, especially girls, may feel to change their bodies according to media standards.
Cut-price plastic surgery packages for Brits
Brits are lucky enough to have this new cut-price plastic surgery holiday vacation packages up for grabs. The special deals include boob jobs, tummy tucks, liposuction and facelifts. This offer is attuned to the growing number of Scots who now seek health treatment overseas at up to half the UK costs.
The cheap deals came in just weeks after a recent study revealed more than 50,000 Brits traveled abroad for treatment last year. Reports said that there was a 25 percent increase in the number of Brits who opt for plastic surgery abroad this year as compared with the figures in 2005.
The most popular cosmetic procedure requested by medical tourists is dental work followed by cosmetic surgery. Also, people aching to have hip or knee replacements, laser eye surgery and cataract removal are also getting the operations done abroad.
First National Bank now offers dental loans
It should be noted that Lebanese bank First National Bank has already opened its door for plastic surgery loans last month. Now, it looks like it just can’t help itself from being so generous to its clients that it opens again another opportunity for people who are quite dissatisfied with their current dental condition. Currently, the bank is now offering dental loans to its clients.
The bank has joined forces with the Doctors Syndicate and launched at Beirut’s Phoenicia hotel on Wednesday the ‘Dental Loan’ to help those with financial problems fix their teeth.
The program has somewhat the same workings with the Plastic Surgery Loan that the bank launched in April. The Loan promises to provide $500 to $5,000 to cover all plastic surgery operations and orthodontics. And so far, it attracted quite a number of plastic surgery patients. This was expected though, considering that they managed to put up hundreds of billboards across Lebanon to get their message across.
Cosmetic surgery lawsuits are on the rise
The Medical Insurance Group of Australia reports that there are 150 claims worth $4 million against cosmetic and plastic surgeons, and cosmetic medical practitioners. This is indicative of the staggering 70 percent rise in claims in five years in South Australia, which happened in the wake of an explosion of nips and tucks.
MIGA says the claims against botched cosmetic surgery are steadily rising each year, exposing several glitches in the cosmetic surgery industry despite the efforts and promises to clean up the mess and implement reforms.
This is the reason why the Australian government has been up and about giving warnings to consumers to make sure that they only go to board-certified plastic surgeons for their cosmetic surgery makeovers. Consumers should beware of cowboy operators, “fly-in” doctors, misleading advertisement, and poor information.
Three California doctors arrested for surgery scam
It looks like the popularity of cosmetic surgery has led many people to create various schemes just to take advantage of the situation and acquire for themselves some huge amounts of cash.
While this is not in the category of tragic cosmetic surgery cases, this can still be considered a serious problem in the cosmetic surgery industry which needs to be addressed immediately.
Just recently, three Californian doctors were arrested due to their participation in a medical insurance fraud for performing medical procedures on healthy people with the knowledge that the patients were being recruited in exchange for money or low cost cosmetic surgery.
37% of Arab girls consider plastic surgery
A survey conducted by Dove has shown that 37% of Arab girls ages 15 to 17 would consider going under the knife in the near future. The figures have projected a generational shift in the way women in the region look at beauty.
The Dove study was done in collaboration with research consulting firm StrategyOne. It was conducted among 3,300 girls and women aged 15 to 64 in ten countries including Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Buthainah Al-Shunnar, plastic surgeon, stressed that teenage girls coming in for plastic surgery don’t see the procedures as dangerous, as women over 30 view it. Young girls just cosmetic surgery as a procedure that would help them get their desired look without thinking so much about the risks and complications.
Cosmetic surgery makeovers as graduation gifts
It is not unusual anymore to hear about parents giving out cosmetic surgery certificates to their daughters as graduation gifts. It is happening and every graduation day marks not just the beginning of a new life in the university but also a new set of breasts or a new nose. Parents just love to dole out makeovers as lofty gifts and teens couldn’t be more thrilled.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), teens make up just two percent of the cosmetic surgery patients in the United States. That’s quite a small number to even bother about. But statistics show that from 2002 to 2006, procedures performed on kids ages 13 to 19 nearly doubles to 244,144, which includes 47,000 nose jobs and 9,000 breast augmentations.
The non-surgical nose job
People who are thinking about getting their noses done but are afraid of surgery need not worry. There is now a non-surgical nose job. In fact, the procedure can be done in just 15 minutes. Now, that’s interesting.
Known as the ’15-minute nose job’, the procedure is designed for those who wish to improve the appearance of their nose without going under the knife.
The procedure involves the use of a needle rather than a scalpel. Filler such as Radiesse or Restylane are used along with the needle to shape and contour the nose. While these products are known to reduce facial wrinkles and restore facial volume, plastic surgeons are using them in the nose to even out and conceal bumps, bulges, and indentations. Surgeons also use them to raise a droopy or downward nasal tip and create a more symmetrical look to the nose.
What’s in store for silicone breast implants?
Silicone breast implants have always been smeared with a lot of controversy. After more than 10 years of research and scientific study, the US Food and Drug Administration has finally given its nod to silicone breast implants for public usage. Now, this type of implants can now be used to women ages 22 and up for both reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery.
Plastic surgeons are expecting that the availability of silicone breast implants to the public will open new doors for women seeking cosmetic breast augmentation. One plastic surgeon in California, Dr. Lloyd Krieger, notes that in many situations, silicone breast implants have real advantages over saline implants.
