Meryl Streep thinks one can get old gracefully
Veteran Hollywood actress Meryl Streep is quite surprised in a bad way with the way things are going in Hollywood especially on the issue of men going under the knife. According to WENN, the actress has criticized the trend of having more and more men getting plastic surgery for enhancing their appearance. The actress insisted that everyone should quit the habit and accept their age.
It is now an accepted fact that men are opening up to the call of beauty through surgery. But it seems that Meryl Streep is still not very open to the idea of having those alpha males swallow their pride by asking for a little outside help on their wrinkles and other imperfections.
Gynecomastia gone in hours
There is a quick-fix procedure suited for men who are complaining about their large man breasts - a condition known as gynecomastia.
Plastic surgery experts recently attended the Health Asia 2008 Exhibition and Conference on Cosmetic Surgery at the Karachi Expo Centre. In here, discussions about the latest achievements in cosmetic surgery have been discussed and highlighted.
One of the highlights of the conference is the discussion of the methods in order to address the medical anomaly known as gynecomastia. On the darker side, this goes to show that women are really so drawn to the concept of getting great looks in order to be successful in life.
Synovate reports that 40% of the women surveyed would like to change their looks if they had the money.
The survey was conducted by asking a sample of over 7,000 people from various countries such as Brazil, Bulgaria, Korea, Spain, South Africa, and the United States about how they defined beauty. The purpose of the research was to find out where people from different cultures see themselves on the beauty scale, and whether they would change anything about their looks.
Shortage of American plastic surgery clients?
Dr. Anthony Griffin is a plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills. He is one of the celebrity plastic surgeons who did makeovers on TV through the Extreme Makeover show on ABC. He recalls that in 2005, a new plastic surgery client needed to wait for about two years for an appointment with him. However, today, things have started to change.
Griffin observed that his waiting list have become shorter, now averaging three months. And most of his clients are Russian and British. Where did the American clients go?
Griffin concluded that the bad economy must have been causing this decrease. He said, "I used to have ballplayers' wives coming in - they did not even look at what we charged.” However, that is already a thing of the past.
Emergency plastic surgery
It is quite ironic to note that a person needs to wait for as long as 31 hours in order to get an emergency medical attention. Such is the case of the patients at Hutt Hospital according to a new research. Not only that; as if waiting is not enough agony, patients even risk being bumped off a waiting list if a more urgent case comes in.
A person by the name of David Kendall reportedly shattered his finger bone into four pieces and absolutely need an immediate medical attention. After fasting all day for the operation, he was told that he had been bumped off the list.
"I felt a bit of a forgery actually, because it was just a finger, but I had to use a hospital bed for 24 hours or more, that was unnecessary," says Kendall.
