Plastic surgery aims to produce natural-looking results

Gone are the days of the windswept and frozen look. Nobody wants to look as if his face was stretched up to his ears. That kind of plastic surgery result has long been hated and plastic surgeons have developed ways to make the results more natural-looking. The kind that your boss or friend won’t even notice.

Plastic surgery patients undergoing a certain procedure don’t want their peers to know that they have had help.

Australians who plan to go under the knife also have the same sentiments. Dr. Alina Fratila, a plastic surgeon, said Australians were following the European trends and are opting for a more natural look. This behavior is quite contrary to what US patients normally show.

"In Europe and Australia the patients do not want to look like they have been frozen, like they have been treated where they don't have any movement," Dr. Fratila said.

"They still want to have a natural look and keep some movement such as a little bit in the eyebrow. In the US they are not so worried about the fact they are looking frozen because the American patients are more open to cosmetic surgery and it doesn't matter if it is recognized that they have had treatment," she added.

However, though US patients are open to cosmetic surgery and don’t mind whether everyone knows they have had some work done, plastic surgeons are also employing techniques that give very natural-looking results. This is the new trend of cosmetic surgery – giving patients results that look so natural, people hardly notice that they have gone under the knife.
