Meryl Streep thinks one can get old gracefully

Veteran Hollywood actress Meryl Streep is quite surprised in a bad way with the way things are going in Hollywood especially on the issue of men going under the knife. According to WENN, the actress has criticized the trend of having more and more men getting plastic surgery for enhancing their appearance. The actress insisted that everyone should quit the habit and accept their age.

It is now an accepted fact that men are opening up to the call of beauty through surgery. But it seems that Meryl Streep is still not very open to the idea of having those alpha males swallow their pride by asking for a little outside help on their wrinkles and other imperfections.

“You'd be amazed how many men in the industry have gone down that road," she said. "I don't get it.”

Meryl Streep claims to be untouched with plastic surgery. The 59-year-old actress takes pride in her natural beauty and wonders why an increasing number of people, both men and women, are turning to plastic surgery as a way to stay young.

The star of the upcoming feel-good flick Mamma Mia stressed that real actors should begin to realize now that better roles are coming to those who belong to the older set of artists.

“The good thing about getting older is that when they do cast you it's often something interesting - you're no longer asked to be the beautiful leading lady,” she emphasized.

While others view that getting old means getting grandma or grandpa roles, Streep has a different perspective. She said that older actors are given the chance to play roles that “examine all the idiosyncrasies people have."

Streep is not planning to get any surgery anytime soon. She even advised her fellow artists to “embrace getting older and celebrate life.”
