Merrill Bobolit
Matt, Sean/Christian’s (Dr. Macnamara / Dr. Troy) son, is sitting in their office with Kimber, Christian’s former girlfriend who Sean has also slept with. Matt and Kimber have been in a relationship recently, and are telling Sean and Christian that they got married. Sean and Christian are obviously taken aback, and Kimber hands them some photos from the wedding day – snidely – saying she feels badly they couldn’t be at the wedding. Sean and Christian are not impressed with her olive branch, and tell the two not only is this abrupt but also a terrible idea. Christian and Sean do not hide their negative feelings toward Kimber, flat out saying that she’s most likely up to no good. Matt tells them that since he and Kimber have been involved in the Church of Scientology, he’s grown a lot and forsees lots of opportunity for himself and the two men are just jealous because he is finally doing so well. Christian and Sean beg to differ, and when tensions in the room start getting too much, Kimber tells them that they are not only there to tell them the news – she is also there for a consult because she wants some work done…for free. Christian has no intention of doing this, but Kimber tells the two men it’s in their best interest – she wants her implants removed so she can breast feed – she and Matt are having a baby.
Sean is in Conor’s nursery furiously painting over the mural Marlowe painted. Julia comes in and asks why he is doing that, especially without asking her. Sean says he figures since Marlowe doesn’t work for them any longer, he could paint over the dark and atrocious painting without offending anyone. Sean also makes it known that he hated Marlowe.
Sean and Christian are in surgery performing liposuction surgery and Sean asks about Michelle. Christian says she’s dealing with Burt’s death and the subsequent arrangements. Sean tells Christian that Julia is having an affair with Marlowe, and Christian tells him that he’s paranoid – just because he had an affair with the nanny does not mean she is. Christian tells Sean he doesn’t believe Kimber’s kid is Matt’s – he’s convinced it’s his own since he recently had sex with Kimber. Says he is going to figure out a way to prove it’s his in order to get Matt out of this mess. Sean leaves the operating room, and through the window appears Dr. Merrill Bobolit – smiling and waving.
Christian takes Merrill into his office and wants to know how he got out of jail. Merrill explains how he took a deal – how the only reason he did what he did was because he was under Madame Rose’s influence and drugs. Christian could care less, but as he opens the door for Merrill to leave, he sits down on Christian’s couch and begins telling him how he was repeatedly raped in prison. He needs an anal retred and tells Christian that he’ll be performing the operation for free. Christian, confused about the demand coming from the man who tried to steal his face, wants to know why he’d be so obliged to do the surgery at all and especially for free. Merrill begins explaining to Christian how he became a prison wife – a Pragg – and his prison husband was Escobar. Clearly Christian is shocked, and Merrill explains that his “hubby” needs some work done as well, and if the McNamara/Troy boys don’t perform both surgeries for free, Escobar will reveal Christian and Sean’s secret about “their mutual friend in the everglades…”
Sean saunters into Marlow’s studio. Clearly Marlowe is confused and asks Sean why he’s there. Sean doesn’t say anything at first, and then starts asking about Marlowe’s paintings – their theme and meaning - and he asks why Marlowe cancelled the surgery. It’s obvious that Marlowe doesn’t want to answer the question, but eventually tells Sean that he and the woman he was going to have the surgery for are taking some time apart. Sean starts probing further, and finally outright asks if Marlowe had an affair with Julia. Marlowe tells Sean he and Julia had an intimate relationship that went beyond all bounds, but doesn’t outright confess to the affair. Sean, of course, knows this is not true. Marlowe asks if Sean is going to hit him – Sean just looks at him, tells him he painted over the mural, and leaves.
Sean and Christian go to see Escobar in prison. Escobar has received third degree burns on his face and his hands – another prisoner set him on fire. He thanks Christian and Sean for coming, even though they feel as if they didn’t have much of a choice. He tells them not to worry about Merrill – he doesn’t know about their swamp secret – a.k.a. burying Sylvio Perez in meat for alligators to eat him. Escobar wants Christian and Sean to fix his face – to make him look the way he did before they did corrective surgery on him the first go around. He tells them that the man they made him look like was also on the run, but for child molestation. He doesn’t care that the cops will figure out who he really is and send him to prison forever – he’d rather spend a lifetime behind bars for being the Escobar people feared than being stuck behind bars as a pervert. Christian and Sean still think Escobar has no proof of what they did to Sylvio in the swamp, not knowing that Escobar had sent Sylvio’s brother, Alejandro, to spy on them and take the body away after they left as future collateral. Once Sean and Christian agree to do the work, Escobar tells them that he’s already arranged with a heroin-addicted prison guard to have the work done at the McNamara/Troy offices. It’s clear that Escobar haunts Sean, because everytime Sean looks at his severely burned face, all he sees is the Escobar pre-surgery and pre-burn.
Christian performing the anal retread on Merrill’s bum and asks if Merrill wants the tattoo of Escobar’s name removed. Merrill says “never” – Escobar saved his life and he’s indebted to him. Merrill tells Christian that being a pragg isn’t about being gay – it’s about surrender. Christian explains that he is a man who likes control, which is how the two of them are different and why Merrill could never be like him.
Sean consulting with Escobar, and every time he looks at him Sean sees his real face – not his burnt face, not his redone face – his real face. Escobar says he needs him not to be squeamish and tells him he’s doing him a favor by not turning him in for Sylvio Perez. Escobar tells Sean that he could make his life terrible, but Sean interrupts him and says Escobar knows nothing about his life right now – grabs him by the face and starts talking about Matt and Julia and how Matt is having a baby with Kimber and Julia is having an affair with Marlowe. Escobar tells Sean to go home, confess the affair he had with Monica, and “bang your wife.” Escobar says that a real man takes responsibility for his mistakes and that is what Sean should do. Sean says he’s not like Escobar – if Julia finds out about the affair with Monica, she’ll leave.
Kimber, Matt, Julia, and a midwife are together in a room and the midwife is counseling Kimber on how her Scientology silent birth will go. Matt, not fully understanding who and what they’re discussing, goes to get Kimber a glass of water. Julia says that she hopes Kimber will consider taking drugs during the birth, but Kimber explains that the Church doesn’t encourage the use of drugs so she doesn’t intend to use them. When Matt comes back with the water, Kimber flips out because he brought her flat water and not sparkling – berating him and saying how is he supposed to be a good father when he can’t even get water correct. Julia is obviously concerned about her son and his decision to marry Kimber, and Kimber tells Julia she’s probably just having confused feelings about becoming a grandmother and she should butt out. Julia loses it, saying there’s nothing confusing about seeing her 18-year old son married to a woman who is pregnant with his child when said woman has slept with both her son’s fathers. The tension is broken up when Christian comes in to tell Kimber she’s scheduled for surgery to remove her implants the next day at 9am.
Sean is with Julia in the nursery, and the tension between them is tangible. Sean makes a connection between the fresh paint on the walls to a fresh start in their marriage. This prompts Julia to confess having had an affair with Marlowe and after a full blow out argument, the two proceed to have sex in the nursery. Sean, however, does not confess his affair with Monica.
Kimber is with Christian and a nurse in prep for her surgery and she’s saying farewell to her chest. Christian pulls out a sonogram machine and says he has it there to monitor the baby during the surgery. Kimber thanks him for the gesture, but doesn’t understand why it’s necessary when she’s having surgery on her breasts. The implant removal goes fine, but when the nurse goes to finish the surgery Christian tells her he isn’t finished. He is taking DNA from the fetus to prove it’s his child – the nurse does not approve and says she intends to tell Kimber when she wakes up. Sean doesn’t care – he just wants proof that it’s his baby. Post surgery, Christian tells Matt that Kimber is doing fine. Matt tells Christian that although he doesn’t approve, he does intend to be a good husband and a good father. Christian says that Matt is a loser and this is just another bad decision he’s made and the one thing that would be a good decision would be to get rid of Kimber. He tells Matt that he took the DNA and intends to prove that the baby is his.
Escobar’s pre-surgery pre – Christian and Sean are using computerized graphs to show him how his face will look. As they are starting the surgery, Escobar tells them that he has a little insurance policy to ensure they do the surgery as planned. In walks Merrill to “supervise” the surgery. At some point during the surgery, however, we see Merrill start to tweak the levels of the anesthesia and Escobar wakes up to find Merrill attacking him with a scalpel. Merrill is threatening to slice his throat for what he did to him in prison – Sean is trying to talk him down. Christian ends up getting the scalpel away from Merrill, the guards take him away, and Sean and Christian finish the surgery. Christian, however, can’t help but point out that if Sean had just let Merrill kill Escobar, all their problems would have been solved.
Escobar in post-op recovery, he slowly takes of his bandages. He looks exactly the way he did before – the way Sean was seeing him – but with thousands of stitches holding his face in place. Night nurse comes in to dress his bandages. The nurse and Escobar start talking in Spanish, and it becomes clear that the two know each other. Turns out the night nurse is Alejandro – Sylvio Perez’s brother. Escobar tells Alejandro to meet him downstairs in the car in an hour and they would go visit Sean and Christian together.
Christian with technician who performed the paternity test. She tells him the tests reveal that he is definitely related to the baby, but that he is not the baby’s father. Christian is stunned. He goes back to the McNamara/Troy offices to find things totally silent and empty. Suspicious, he starts creeping through the halls to find every single one of the guards murdered and Escobar escaped.
Julia in the kitchen making coffee when Sean comes in. The two are happy as clams after their evening of sex and honesty. She goes to shower, and Sean hears Escobar’s voice telling him that Sean still needs to tell Julia about Monica. Sean doesn’t believe Escobar is really there – in fact, he’s pretty certain this whole interaction is a figment of his imagination. Escobar confesses to Sean that he had been planning the surgery for years – the hardest part, however, was lighting his own face on fire. He thanks Sean for helping him, and says he is a man of his word so he came to get rid of the evidence linking Sean to Sylvio Perez. As Escobar leaves, he tells Sean that the evidence is in his den – and there was Sylvio Perez sitting on Sean’s couch with his brains on the cushions. Sean calls the police to report a murder, and Julia – a little panicked - asks what is going on. Sean tells her he had an affair with Monica, and the episode ends.
