Gala Gallardo

The episode opens with Sean cleansing his home as he packs up with Christian’s help. There are two people burning sagey stuff trying to get rid of the bad vibes in the home. Christian, in the Christian way, points them toward the nursery…because of Julia and Marlowe. Sean mentions he’s off to LA for an interview – the plastic surgery capital of the world. Christian hands Sean a check – he is officially bought out. The cleansers came out and said they’d be back in an hour to finish – the handyman said they were disturbing him. Sean and Christian didn’t have a handyman in the bedroom – they run, and there, on the bed, is Escobar Gallardo. He needs them.

Christian and Sean are with Escobar at his home. Escobar tells them they are there for a consult – for Gala Gallardo – Escobar’s wife. She tells them she needs reconstructive surgery, and she heard they are the best in Miami. She starts to tell Sean and Christian the story of what happened to her – Escobar’s enemies went after her while she was running the business. They cut off her breasts, leaving two terrible bloody looking scars. Escobar pulls out a suitcase of $150,000 to fix her breasts – he says there was no where else for them to go. Gala tells them to take them home – it’s not good to make enemies.

Michelle walking to her car, and there is the French speaking Asian man. She gets in the car with Escobar, who says her day job is starting to get in the way of his business. She tells him no – she won’t work for him – and he grabs her. She tells him to kill her, because she won’t do it anymore. Escobar tells her that she needs to repay her debt, so if she fixes Gala’s breasts, he’ll consider them even.

OR, Sean is operating and Liz is starting to get emotional over his departure. Michelle comes in…to observe Sean operating on breasts – she is taking notes. Clearly, this is because she is going to operate on Gala herself. She tells Sean she is going to go back to medical school to be a plastic surgeon.

Christian comes into Sean’s office while he’s packing up. Christian is unaware that Michelle’s planning on going back to medical school – he seems confused. They are heated with each other – Christian is clearly upset that Sean is leaving. The argument, of course, is surrounded around a coffee maker.

Michelle and Christian sitting together on the couch, and Christian looks upset. Christian wants to know why she didn’t tell him about her plans to go back to medical school and wants to know what else she hasn’t told him. At that moment she says she’s totally honest, her cell phone starts to buzz. We all know who it is, and I think Christian does as well. So calmly, so coolly, she lies. She tries to make him feel guilty, but we know she’s the guilty one. The anesthesiologist tells Michelle she should not have agreed to this if it’s not something she thinks she can handle – her hand is shaking. At that moment, in walks Christian.

They go into his office and start to argue. She keeps lying, and tells Christian that Escobar threatened Sean and Christian if she didn’t operate. Michelle cracks, and tells Christian everything. Apparently the only thing she hasn’t lied about is that she loves him. Now she wants to know why she helped Escobar.

Sean and Christian are scrubbing up – Sean is clearly angry. Sean wants to know why he is continuing to believe Michelle when she’s going to stop lying. Sean points out again how Michelle has continued to endanger them all. Escobar begins to make fun of Liz having lost her kidney, and Gala forces him to apologize. The surgery begins. Michelle comes in to the OR at one point, and Sean leaves at that exact moment. He tells Escobar that Christian’s new partner, Michelle, would be happy to help him finish. She thanks Sean, and he just glares at her.

Sean is with Matt at his apartment to give him and Kimber a gift. Sean gives Matt a check to help him start his nest egg – it’s a lot of money. Sean says it’s for his kids education or Matt’s should he choose to go back to school. Sean asks how married life is – if Kimber appreciates him – Matt says it’s great, but Sean knows he’s lying. He tells Matt that he doesn’t have to stay with her…and at that moment Matt starts crying, saying he thinks she’s still in love with Christian and married him in some twisted way to get back at Christian. Sean leaves, but not before Matt makes him promise to come back for the birth. Kimber comes out, and Matt tells her about the money for the baby’s education fund. She doesn’t seem as happy as he was and sends Matt to change. He questions her about her love for Matt, and she admits she doesn’t love him but she’s trying. He tells her to try harder and walks out. She starts crying.

Liz is with Gala in the recovery room, and Gala thanks her for not killing her. Liz says she has of course thought about killing her, about how Escobar ruined her life…but it’s not in her nature, and we know that. But she wants to know why, why she married him. Gala says Escobar is weak, and the weak ones are the most dangerous ones. Gala says that she basically has stayed with him to keep her and her kids safe, like she has no other option. Liz thanks her, because when she leaves McNamara/Troy she’ll be stuck in her hell, but Liz will be free.

Christian and Michelle are having sex, and talking about what happened – Christian figured out that Michelle must have taken some of the kidneys because otherwise Escobar would have never trusted her with the surgery. She wants to know what else Christian is hiding, and he lies and says she knows all the truth. They stop having sex, and it is very apparent at that moment how banal their life has just become.

Escobar and the Asian goons are in the waiting area waiting for the big unveiling of Gala’s breasts. Escobar starts to undress her, and Liz comes in with a gun. Apparently she is not as okay with everything that’s happened to her. Gala is trying to rationalize with her, telling her this is not her way. She gives the gun to Gala, and she turns around and shoots Escobar. She tells them to take it as payment for the surgery – now they can be assured that he’ll never bother them again. Liz freaks out, Sean freaks out – they don’t know how to get rid of him. Christian has a solution, and the next thing we know the three of them are at the supermarket buying ham. I have to admit, this brings a smile to my face. And back they go to the swamp, and wait for the alligator’s to do their thing.

Cut to the Encino Plastic Surgery Center of America where Sean is on an interview. The lead doctor cannot believe Sean wants to join their staff – such a big team with not much variety. Sean tells him he needs a change, and he is offered the job.

Cut to the weirdest musical interlude sequence ever. This little montage happens, and everyone is singing the same song – about being happy to be home again, but how none of them really are happy even though they should be. Seans prepares dinner for one at his new apartment in LA. Christian has the name of McNamara/Troy changed to Troy/Landau. Michelle and Christian are sitting together on the couch. Kimber and Matt are together in the apartment. Michelle is at a desk trying to write Christian a letter. Liz is there, too. Christian performs a surgery. Seriously this thing just keeps going on and on, and is basically reinforcing how we all know these particular people are not happy even though everything says they should be, and how they’re trying to be. The sequence ends with Sean in a surgery with a young kid who is in awe to be in the same OR with him. In walks Christian and sends the resident kid out of the room. Sean asks what he’s doing there – he says vacation. He’s taken Wilbur all over the place, but he thinks LA is a shithole, LA needs him and he’s moving to LA. Michelle bought him out. Sean is the only one he can absolutely trust. He wants to go back into business with Sean…on Rodeo Drive…and it looks like Season 5 is going to be in Beverly Hills – new cast, new crew, same old McNamara/Troy.
