Fat men prefer cosmetic surgery than exercise

You always see them everyday at home, at work, or in your neighborhood. They abhor exercise since they are too lazy to do it. They feed on junk food, and happily live couch-potato lives. Yeah, these guys prefer to spend five hours in front of their TV or computer than to spend 30 minutes in the gym. But they are saying that their bodies can still be saved through cosmetic surgery.

A survey for the Sunday Telegraph has shown that almost half of men take no regular exercise and eat horribly. However, one out of four said that they are counting on cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance.

Health experts are alarmed at this development. It seems that men is now adapting to the ‘quick fix’ culture, pinning their hopes on surgical treatments to enhance their looks while actually ignoring the benefits of securing the basic levels of health.

According to the survey, 41 percent of men do no physical activity beyond traveling to work and doing house chores. Also, 46 percent admitted that they eat more ready meals and takeaways than they had a decade ago.

However, most of them said that they would rather have cosmetic surgery than sweat it out in the gym. 23 percent of the men surveyed said they would have plastic surgery if they can afford it.

True enough, the response is quite indicative of the current trends. As of late, the number of men going under the knife has doubled in the past two years. Among the most popular procedures among men are liposuction, eyelid surgery and nose jobs.

As expected, health experts are not happy with the current scenario. They warned that quick fixes such as plastic surgery would do nothing to promote a healthy lifestyle.

"I can understand why people want quick fix solutions like plastic surgery, but in fact procedures like liposuction have no health benefit at all. The bad news is that improving your health is hard work," says Dr. David Haslam, GP and chairman of the National Obesity Forum.

Too bad, nobody seems to be willing to do the hard work.
