Cynthia Nixon breast augmentation rumor
Cynthia Nixon is one of the stars of Sex & The City. Just recently, perhaps part of the promotional efforts of the movie which is quite unnecessary, Nixon was bombarded with rumors that she and Kristen Davis checked in to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital for a breast augmentation surgery and varicose vein removal.
The news actually was all over the Internet and tabloids, putting the least talked about Sex & The City star to the spotlight.
Cynthia answered, “I was at St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital for my three- monthly checkup. I was in the Oncology department. I guess they (the press) think that means plastic surgery.”
Shortage of American plastic surgery clients?
Dr. Anthony Griffin is a plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills. He is one of the celebrity plastic surgeons who did makeovers on TV through the Extreme Makeover show on ABC. He recalls that in 2005, a new plastic surgery client needed to wait for about two years for an appointment with him. However, today, things have started to change.
Griffin observed that his waiting list have become shorter, now averaging three months. And most of his clients are Russian and British. Where did the American clients go?
Griffin concluded that the bad economy must have been causing this decrease. He said, "I used to have ballplayers' wives coming in - they did not even look at what we charged.” However, that is already a thing of the past.
Vanessa Williams is a Botox user
Hollywood actress Vanessa Williams, who currently stars on the hit TV show Ugly Betty, has admitted that she is a Botox user. The stunning 45-year old actress told Barbara Walters, “I certainly do Botox, which I definitely think that almost every woman that I know has. And it’s a miracle drug, no cutting, nothing…”
It is apparent that Vanessa’s forehead is baby-smooth. No wrinkles or any traces of aging can be spotted. Remarkably though, there are still some crow’s feet around her eyes, making her Botox results appear very natural. It was a wise decision not to apply Botox too much because it does make look everything artificial aside from the fact that the face might even stop having any facial expression.
Emergency plastic surgery
It is quite ironic to note that a person needs to wait for as long as 31 hours in order to get an emergency medical attention. Such is the case of the patients at Hutt Hospital according to a new research. Not only that; as if waiting is not enough agony, patients even risk being bumped off a waiting list if a more urgent case comes in.
A person by the name of David Kendall reportedly shattered his finger bone into four pieces and absolutely need an immediate medical attention. After fasting all day for the operation, he was told that he had been bumped off the list.
"I felt a bit of a forgery actually, because it was just a finger, but I had to use a hospital bed for 24 hours or more, that was unnecessary," says Kendall.

Skin fillers delayed effects
A new study on cosmetic skin fillers conducted by Spanish researchers revealed that polyalkylimide implants may lead to potentially severe and adverse immune-related effects that appear months after the procedure was performed.
The research, published in a recent issue of the Archives of Dermatology, stressed that polyalkylimide implants are made to augment lips, cheeks, the forehead, and the lines that develop between the nose and mouth.
Researcher Jaume Alijotas-Reig, M.D., Ph.D. from the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and Autonomous University of Barcelona, and his colleagues have this to say:
Patients rate doctors online
Katherine Chen is a plastic surgery patient who posted a review about her experience on a website that encourages consumers to rate health-care providers. She did this when she got dissatisfied with her nasal reshaping surgery and even hired a malpractice lawyer and filed a complaint with the Medical Board of California.
Chen, 22, said that she wasn’t really nasty about her review. “I wasn’t nasty about it. But I posted a comment about what I went through. These web sites are useful. Doctors still have a lot of power.”
Chen, together with other consumers, was just expressing what she thinks about the current state of health care and the doctors who provide it. The presence of dozens of websites that allow people to rate and review their doctors have made this activity a lot easier. These websites operate in the same way online services help people find hotels or plumbers.
Brigitte Nielsen to go under the knife on TV
Brigitte Nielsen is a model and actress who is going to go under knife for a facelift, eyelift, breast lift, fat injections and liposuction on TV. Nielsen wants to look 15 years younger and she wants all of the German TV audiences to watch her plastic surgery operations.
Brigitte Nielsen said in an interview, "I know I will be breaking a taboo."
This is not Brigitte’s first plastic surgery endeavor. But this is the first time TV viewers get to watch something like this on television.
Nielsen, who is the ex-wife of Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone will go through numerous procedures while a TV crew is going to film every incision for a program to be broadcast on German TV channel RTL.
Dealing with unhappy patients
More often than not, patients who have unrealistic expectation will always be unhappy with their plastic surgery results. Especially when the patients brings in a photo of her favorite celebrity and tells her surgeon to make a her an exact clone, the plastic surgeon will always be at a disadvantage of not fulfilling her requests.
So how we deal with a disgruntled patient? Dr. Richard Goode of Stanford University School of Medicine says the best defense is a good offense. He is the author of the article, "The unhappy patient following facial plastic surgery: What to do?" which appears in the May issue of the journal Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America.
